Purulent Fulminating Cesspit
Honestly, any blog post containing that phrase simply has to be worth reading. Especially when it is in reference to a recent topic of mine. It’s a great phrase, though I don’t think I would have even spelled it right…
On top of that, he gets in the word “suckitude”, which I’m pretty sure isn’t a word, but in this context I still like.

Kindle Fire One Month Later
Danielle and I have had our Kindles for a little over a month now. When they first came out I read many positive reviews. Now I seem to read only horrible reviews of the Fire. It’s selling like crazy but apparently everyone hates it. Hmm.
For the record, Danielle and I love it as much as when we first got it. When we take the train up to my wife’s sister’s (hour and a half) we bring the Kindles and leave the iPad.
Yes, the touchscreen is not as responsive as an iPad. I have had to press things twice on occasion. Oh, the horror.
But the size is quite nice. It’s better for reading and very good for everything else. It could be faster, but it’s fine. It was, after all, $199.

For Those Keeping Score at Home
Motorola won a patent suit against Apple in Germany, allowing them to ban iPhone sales (Apple will no doubt appeal).
Apple sued Samsung in Australia to prevent sales of the Galaxy Tab. Sales were briefly halted but Samsung eventually won.
Apple has several other suits against Samsung going on.
Apple won a patent suit against HTC in the US which could halt imports of HTC phones (HTC will no doubt appeal).
Samsung sued Apple in Korea, Japan and Germany, presumably in response to the various Apple lawsuits.
Google purchased Motorola, in large part for the patents, so they could get into the lawsuit act.
Microsoft, clearly feeling left out, sued Barnes and Noble over Android technology.
I’m sure I’ve missed a few, it’s hard to keep up. The entire technology patent system is officially ridiculous.
Other than lawyers, who exactly does this help?

Cookies
My daughter Danielle is a Girl Scout (well, a Brownie, technically). This is her first year doing this and it’s cookie time. Of course I hit up all my friends, but we live in a large apartment building so she wanted to sell in the building.
I did some fundraisers back in high school. I recall selling Christmas wreaths. That was a tough sell. So I told Danielle that some people won’t want any but you have to say “thank you” regardless.
Everyone loves Girl Scout Cookies.
Seriously, it’s the easiest sell ever. Not a single person said no.

One Born Every Minute…
Anyone remember the Power Balance bracelet that supposedly improved athletic ability? Lots of athletes swore by it.
Well they just paid out $57 million for making false claims…
